Director, Benaroya Research Institute at Virginia Mason and Affiliate Professor of Immunology, University of Washington School of Medicine. Before joining the Benaroya Institute, Dr. Nepom conducted research in the Department of Pathology at Harvard Medical School and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center at the University of Washington. He is an internationally recognized expert in molecular mechanisms of type 1 diabetes and rheumatoid arthritis and has conducted clinical studies of potential cellular and molecular targets and therapeutic strategies for type 1 diabetes. Dr. Nepom earned his PhD in Biochemistry and his MD from the University of Washington.
